the Midi Canal: beautiful, part II
There have been requests for more of the beauty. But I have reservations. I would be saddened if any of my more sensitive readers were to O.D. on the beauty.
Beauty, as you know, has long been held by some to be a gateway drug leading to other even more insidious things, such as happiness, tranquility, and peace of mind. View responsibly.
You've been warned.
I have a confession to make.
That business about the three hour tour wasn't really true.
We were actually on the boat a lot longer than that
but it's hard to pass up a good Gilligan's Island reference.

A market one of the lockkeepers had set up. We bought espresso and cherries.
There is a narrow path which runs the length of the Canal. On our second afternoon I rode the path on one of the bikes we rented.
There exists video footage of this bikeride. But there's been no internet for four days now. Getting online, even when not on a boat, has been patchy. I don't think posting video is gonna happen, but maybe you should check back later.
The path:
First Mate L temporarily skippers the sloop while the Captain enjoys a bikeride alongshore:
Looks like she's having fun ...
Hey, wait a minute ...
Hey! Where's she going with my boat?
Come back here!
Mutiny!
Later ...
the insurrection quelled and the mutineers appropriately disciplined, the Captain is back behind the wheel:
