the Midi Canal: robots

Each lock is operated by its Lockeeper. We were warned that Lockkeepers often tend to be ornery types. We were told: "they are not much smiling".

Fortunately we weren't on the receiving end of too much "not smiling" on the parts of Lockkeepers.

In fact, one of them had decorated his lock and the local environs with many strange and wonderful robots.


There were crocodile robots


and robot penguins and robot ostriches.


There were scary screaming robots


and robot elephants.

millions of them ...


Most of the robots didn't move, at least not while we were looking at them, but some did.
